There are 2 types of diabetes. The one which usually goes hand in hand
with being overweight is "maturity onset" or Type 2 & is usually controlled
with diet & tablets, although in some cases insulin is needed. "Juvenile" or
Type 1 is a lack of insulin production rather than a resistance to insulin
(as in Type 2)& is typified by weight loss, excessive thirst & urination &
lethargy. I don't know how old you friend is or what the age cut off point
for "Juvenile" diabetes is (I was 17) but immediate medical attention is
important as things don't improve by themselves! A good starting point is
the book "Dr.Bernstein's diabetes solution" (try amazon.com) Mixed with
Paleo it works for me :)
