H-g's don't do much food preparation, they just eat nuts and seeds as they
find them. If you forget about the concept of "meals" at fixed times which
have to be prepared, you will be closer to h-g. It's basically a question of
a series of light meals or snacks, comprising such things as jerky, pepitas
(pumpkinseeds), sunflowerseeds, fruits, etc. Remember, paleo people did not
sit down to dinner as such. What they had they ate with their fingers.
People in my area ate an acorn porridge with dried venison for breakfast and
supper. They only ate twice a day, and they did not eat first thing in the
morning. I grind sunflowerseeds and pepitas in a blender with water to make
the porridge. Cook for 30 mins, eat as is, or dry in microwave to make hard
cake to carry. This is pretty close to paleo h-g.
Your goal is to eat much less than you are currently eating. Moderns eat
maybe ten times more food than paleo h-g's would have for their energy
expenditure. You will find that as you cut out the starches and sugars in
your diet, you will be eating much less overall and your energy levels will
increase considerably.
Walk as much as you can. It is essential to walk at least one mile per day.
This is more important than anything else in your life.
