IIRC, the schools around here not only sell junk food, but junk food
companies come in and paint big billboards in the halls (stuff like
doritos)--for a fee to the schools--and the schools figure it's another way
to get more money for school programs, so the end justifies the means, or
some such.

Then there's the junk they all seem to sell in the "school store"--often
glossing that over with letting kids "run" it as part of junior achievement
and the like.
