Some medications cause muscle cramping as a side-effect. I found this out
when I just happened to mention to my allergist that I was experiencing
severe (and increasing) muscle cramping in my feet and legs at night... the
allergist told me that some people experience muscle cramping from the
inhalent (Serevent)!

You may have Fibromylagia or FMS syndrome. It is not unusal for any
person with a autoimmune disorder to develop FMS. We use Guai to

I have had similar symptoms only once, when I ate frozen buckwheat waffles.
I believe they weren't gluten-free, perhaps contaminated. Yes, I have been
sensitive to corn and other things too.
You may want to check your blood pressure and other cardiac indicators.
Extreme and sudden weakness is usually a blood pressure drop and can be
dangerous. This may be a valve problem and not as closely related to food as
you think. Or it may be and still just as dangerous.

I have found that drinking the 8+ glasses of water per day reduces any calf
cramps I have had. I began to notice the relationship about two mo. ago.
have been drinking lots of water this summer, but on the days when I was
really busy and forgot were the nights when I was awakened with terrible leg
cramps. It's worth a try.

I tried the Specific Carbohydrate Diet because I have had continuing GI
symptoms (diagnosed by biopsy 11 years ago and seem to tolerate less and
less as the years go by). On the SCD I did well for the first few weeks
and then began to have muscle soreness and and felt as if I had exercised to
exhaustion. Mild exertion made it worse. The diet allows unlimited fruit,
nuts, seeds, meats, fish etc. but no complex carbohydrates. I reasoned that
it was the lack of complex carbs. that might be responsible for all this and
stopped the regimen. Additionally I was losing weight quickly that I
couldn't afford to lose. After returning to a regular diet, I quickly began
to improve and now am able to walk, bike, etc. with what I consider a normal
amount of fatigue and without the muscle "burning".

Right off that sounds like "claudication." This happens when there is a
narrowing of the arteries or veins to the legs causing inadequate
circulation. Short walks of even half a block can cause this kind of burning
and pain. But if that's what it was it should be over when you quit
exercising, so that may not be it. To rule this out they can give you a
doppler test. (2)

I've recently had pain in ankles legs & knee's in my case I traced it to the
B vitamin Niacin. When I stopped ingesting Niacin the pain reduced and left
after a week. When I started using niacin 3 times the min. dose the pain
returned.

I suffered leg pain for a period of about three months and then the pain
eased up. This was several years ago. After the pain disappeared I did
suffer some nerve damage. I have to assume it had something to do with the
celiac disease. I went most of my child and adulthood without a diagnosis.

Did you read Linda McCarty's post low sodium levels yesterday (9/26/01)...
that struck a bell with me. I dont think sodium is considered a nutrient
like potassium.

I also experience the muscle problem. The only difference with me is that I
have tingling or"pins and needles" in my legs (and sometimes in my hands)
almost all the time. I would really appreciate it, if you find out what it
is, if you'd let me know. I'm also very careful about gluten and do not buy
the so-called gluten free items in stores either. Doctors are stumped.

I developed pain down the back of my legs about 12 years ago. Through
some detective work, I figured out I had too much oxalic acid in my
body. When I went on a low oxalate diet and took 2 grams of calcium a
day with meals(which combines with the oxalate in the GI tract
renderingit unabsorbable), the pain disappeared after about 6 weeks. It
returned within 24 hours after again eating a high oxalate food....

Another possibility is B6 deficiency.

Cross-contamination is a big problem, unless you make everything from
scratch , and everyone should , no processed foods should be used, no dairy,
no sugar, polaner jam can take the place of any sweetener .maybe you have
permanent damage that will never heal. how is your calcium ,potassium
levels, maybe your phospherous level is too high.
