The US has more licened deer hunters than the rest of the world has solders
under arms.  The state of Pennslyvania alone has more of these hunters than
NATO and the Warsaw pact combined have solders. ( WSJ)

In spite of the impressive numbers and the expenditure of billions of
dollars, Bambi is still winning the war as deer populations continue to soar
nation-wide.  Similar numbers of wild-fowl hunters have also have had little
effect of bird populations.  Hunting, even with the most modern of weapons
is not easy to learn.  To bag game one must learn much about Nature and
one's place in it.

After you have learned to hunt sucessfully with weapons you might want to
consider Falconry.  Even the oldest Falconers learn something new every time
they hunt.
