Dear List members,
Some time ago I voiced an opinion that Lite Salt was not a healthy product
because of the ingredients. I could not elaborate further because I could
not recall my source(s) for this. Several weeks ago I requested information
from the company that makes Morton's Lite Salt. I received the information
today. I have copied this below as sent to me.
____________________________________________________________________
Morton's Lite Salt
Salt - provides saltiness
Potassium Chloride - salt substitute
Calcium silicate - anti-caking agent
Magnesium carbonate - anti-caking agent
Dextrose - stabilizes the potassium iodide
Potassium Iodide - iodizing agent

Potassium chloride has been identified as causing circulatory problems
(edema) and heart problems. People with impaired kidney function are highly
susceptible to these complications.
Dextrose - there's no need to elaborate on this.
After seeing this list I recalled that the amount of potassium in this
product was too high and was implicated in causing heart failure in people.
