Mike,
Yes I can start in safe mode (and I have done this dozens of times).
Only once was I unable to do so. I then ran a registry restore program and
was able to again start in safe mode.
The Microsoft tech guy has suggested reinstalling ME into a different
folder, but without access to my Zip 100 or external Firewire hard drive I
will have to backup everything on floppies. I plan to try a number of less
draconian procedures first.
