Thanks Butch. Now with all the confusion and my poor memory as well as it has been 10 years since I built my g5rv, where can I find an article with construction details?
I can re-install either a 40 or 50 foot telescopic mast to replace the one that I lost last fall which would be great. If I go 50 plus the 4 foot elevation afforded by putting its' base on my deck coupled with the downslope of my back yard to the creek behind the house its apex will be about 60 feet above that water level or good ground. When I used this antenna previously about 20 years ago for its first incarnation with apex about 10 feet shorter it worked well with the exception that my coax length was slightly off and I did not have a current balun at the junction between the ladder line and coax I was using. I have heard that the commercials models work much better than the home brews so may look into that.
Anyone got ideas of sources for kevlar rope for guying a new tower? Plystrand is still about 80 cents a foot so more than I want to spend right now.
Thank You!
