Your observation is correct - there is no problem with NetBEUI and
Internet security. The trouble with NetBEUI is with security on a local
network - if you don't trust other users. It exposes the computers to
each other. I suppose that potentially if someone on the outside got
control of one of your computers, then NetBEUI may make it easier for
that person to access the other. I am not sure about this but that is
the only possible additional exposure that I can think of. However,
while NetBEUI makes it easier to configure a network, it is "cleaner" to
stick with a single protocol - namely TCP/IP.
