Although I haven't seen a "no post" at x2, I have seen the Epox MVP3 class, looking for x2 and getting x6 (BIOS issue), not report a speed at all.
All K6-X CPU's with the "sharptooth" K6=III based core have the x6 @ x2 feature. The info can be found in there white papers at this .pdf
