If it's a USB cable you can buy an extension cable for that at any computer
store. I got a double pack of USB cables (A to B and A to A (you need the
latter to connect the camera's computer plug end to the extender and it to
the computer)) for $5.99 at Costco as opposed to nearly $20 for an A to A at
CompUSA. Cheap cables, but hey once you plug them in and never move them,
who cares? Everything works fine since I plugged in a USB hub using the
cheapo cables. Haven't noticed any degradation in data transfer, or a big
slowdown in speed. If it is a serial port connection you can get adapters
and cables at CompUSA or Radio Shack.

I have a Logitech Quick Cam Express I use for teleconferencing.
Would like to also use it for family pictures and such. Is the such
a thing as an extender for the cable that would let me get a little
farther away from my desk..!!?? And if so, how far could an
extender cable go; and where might I buy such a thing ?
thanks as always
