David - My suggestion on printers is the Epson Stylus Photo 750. This is a
six color printer, and the photo output on it is nothing short of stunning.
It actually took a bit of convincing for me to believe that photo's produced
on this machine were not actually regular prints.
Can't help much with the scanner, but Epson makes a good product. If you
want to go a little less expensive, look at the Mustek line. They are a
little slower, but as long as you get one the produces 32bit or better
color depth, it is going to have fantastic output.
