If you can still find one, the adi-at600 made by Premier
Communications is user friendly towards the blind via a series of
beep tones within the menus. But its battery
life leaves something to be desired unless you buy the top of the
line pack as well as the quick charger. This radio is no longer
manufactured, but there may still be some around. You can check
with H.R.O. as well as Premier to see. Premier's toll free
number is: 1-800-666-2654 but it is only answered during regular
business hours pacific time. The story is that the factory that
manufactured these radios was destroyed in an earth quake in
Taiwan and they have not found a suitable replacement manufacturer
yet but they do hope to bring that unit back as soon as they can.
