Hi. This may sound dumb, but what the heck.
I recently had a similar problem installing ME after formatting a drive.
When I formatted, I automatically added the /s to the command and added the
system files, this was done using a Win98 start-up disk. I then set the
BIOS to boot from CD, inserted the disk and away it went, only to stop
reporting that the HD already had a system on it.
To make sure none of the files remained, I reformatted the HD, without
adding the system files and the install went OK. I suppose that if ME were
installed on another HD and then an ME start-up disk made, the format system
files that would create would be compatible.
Just a thought
