Some of the suggestions given by the group so far are worth looking
into. All is not lost. With a little work you system should be up and
running nicely.

This is part of the real world that isn't fair to the consumer. On the
other hand, the manufacturer is trying to play it safe. If you install
the CD that came with the system, you end up with a proprietary system.
>My problem exists with the fact that the software I have from HP, that contains all the software and drivers ect , does not work. When trying to install anything thing off it (such as the virus scan program), I recieve an error message telling me that this cd was created for an HP system only.
One option you may want to try is this, insert the HP CD, open explorer
and search through the contents of the CD. There may be a chance that
you may discover a folder containing the individual drivers that you
need.I have done this on several ocations when a client doesn't want all
the bells and whistles.
I wouldn't try to install the whole CD due to the fact there may be
several programs that may be of little interest or use to you. You may
have lost the support from HP but you have gained the best support by
posting here.
