Some interesting research...
Vaccine For Cattle Liver Abscess May Oust Antibiotics
http://unisci.com/stories/20003/0922005.htm
Excerpt:
"Liver abscess is a problem exclusively with feedlot cattle, which are
fed high-grain diets to achieve rapid fattening before slaughter.
Grain
produces acid in the cow's stomach lining, and if damaged, bacteria
can
flow through the blood stream into the liver, where the bacteria will
start to grow."
The article goes on to say that farmers nevertheless continue to raise
grain-fed cattle because they are "more tender and juicy" than
grass-fed cattle. Oh well.
And:
"Scientists Link Energy Metabolism and Fertility"
http://www.hhmi.org/news/mwhite2.html
This summarizes a paper that appears in Nature (Sept.21), linking
carbohydrate metabolism with diabetes and PCO (polycystic ovarian
syndrome).
except: "The discovery of IRS-2's coordinating role suggests that
insulin resistance might be an underlying trigger of obesity in
diabetics...IRS-2 malfunctions may be at the root of polycystic
ovarian
syndrome (PCOS)."
Proves what those of us with PCO have been arguing with our doctors
aboutfor years...PCO is best managed by severely reducing or
eliminating grains and other carbs - NOT by low-fat diets!
