Check your drivers for your mother board. I have a DFI motherboard with the
VIA chipset.
It would not recognize I had a HP CDRW installed. I checked the drivers in
the Device Manager, especially the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and found the
drivers were Microsoft and not the VIA chipset drivers. Once these were
installed (updated)the devices came right up and stayed there.
