I found that I could do a credible job using Excel.  While it is certainly
not ideal, it will do the job.

In order to use it effectively, one should install the "data analysis"
package that comes with Excel, but beware that the terminology and layout
of the various output screens is far from consistent and sometimes takes a
bit of poking around to find the parameters one is most interested in.
