Designing Accessible Course Content Using Familiar Software
This online course starts October 4 2004. See a syllabus and register:
http://easi.cc/workshops/dacc.htm

Courseware or learning management systems make it easy for faculty and
instructional design staff to put course content online without knowing
much about the Web and not knowing any sophisticated computer applications.
However, these systems often do little do assist you to provide that
content in a format fully accessible to students with disabilities. How
can you do this without having to be a skilled Web designer?

** You can do it, and we will help you. Accessibility does not have to be
an arduous task.
This course will permit you to make that content accessible for users with
various disabilities and who are using specialized software without
your becoming skilled in HTML code. We will focus on providing
accessibility using software with which you are already familiar.

The course is instructor-led, month-long and interactive. Content is on
the Web, and class discussion uses a listserv system. The course is divided
into the following 8 parts:

Lesson 1: Introduction
Lesson 2: Powerpoint accessibility for the web
Lesson 3: General Online Content Design Tips
Lesson 4: Creating accessible PDF
Lesson 5: Word and Excel accessibility for the web
Lesson 6: Understanding Simple Accessible Web Pages
Lesson 7: Designing and Repairing Simple Accessible Web Pages
Lesson 8: Delivering accessible content using video and audio conferencing

EASI also provides hour-long Web conferences on state-of-the-art
