I tried a few months ago to contact Wampler Foods in Broadway, Va. to check
the gluten free status of their frozen chicken breasts. I never received a
reply to my emails. I have since learned that Wampler was bought out by
Pilgrim's Pride of Dallas.

Their very nice customer service person, Brenda Lowey, checked with both
the Pilgrim's Pride R&D folks and with the QA folks at the old Wampler HQ
and was able to assure me that all Pilgrim's Pride chicken products and the
Wampler Individually frozen chicken breasts (comes in a large bag, about
6-8 lbs; the UPC code is: 1 13097 30250 6) are indeed gluten free. I
specifically inquired about the 'natural flavors' and was assured that they
did not include wheat, oats, barley, rye or dairy. (note for newbies:
natural flavors can be bad news; stay away from Russer lunch meats, for
example)
