Lantronix Device Installation

I am planning to install a Lantronix box from a Win98 machine (network
server) to operate an electronic message center (sign).  The Lantronix takes
standard network cable in and provides DCE Null Modem output (goes through
short haul null modem) on 25 pin RS232 port.
1) Which Lantronix device is best suited for this application?
2) What is the hardware modem (i.e. does Lantronix get an assigned IP, does
it have jumpered settings, etc.)?
3) What handshake settings does Lantronix use, what software / protocols...
Basically, any info. you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
