CD and DVD lasers use different wavelengths (narrower/higher with DVD for
increased data density).

The reflectivity of the dye(s) in your brand of CDRs may not fall within
your DVD player's readability range. Remember, your burner is not actually
"burning" the pits in the substrate like a factory recorded CD; it is only
changing the reflectivity of the dye layer.

You can try a different brand of CDR with different color dyes... (check
the bottom for blue, green gold, black, etc. colors...)

You can also try using CDRWs since these have a "re-writeable" dye layer
(aka "erasable") and may prove to be more readable in your DVD.
