Personally, I wouldn't forgo a motherboard for that reason. But it all
depends on what you're aiming to do. Can you think of a reason why you
might want or need single-bit error correction? Perhaps overclocking?
That's what it would come down to for me. If I wanted a rock-solid
system -- perhaps a coding or rendering station, definitely a server
-- then I would do it simply for the protection.
But if I planned to surf, play games, and do all the normal family-PC
things, I'd not worry much about it.
I'm very curious about others' opinions!
