I have had the same problem which I solved by running Scan Disk [and for
that matter Defrag] in Safe Mode.

You still may need to turn off your screensaver however.

Thank you but I did try doing scan disk in "Safe Mode" and still get the popup
window saying "scan disk has restarted 10 times because something is writing
to this drive.
