I have a HP computer with a HP CD Writer Plus model
#8101 that was added after the computer was originally
purchased.
My problem is the CD Writer will not work with the
software that came with it.
When I run setup from the disks that came with the CD
Writer I get the following message: "The CD Writer
Plus could not be detected on your system".
I can write data to CDs from the hard drive with
Adaptec software so it appears that the CD Writer is
OK but I am unable to copy CDs or do anything with
audio the way it is now.
I have examined the installation and it appears to be
correct. Also it did work before I got the computer
and nothing has been done inside but the HD was
formatted and W98 reinstalled and I may be missing
some software that was used with the CD Writer before
I received it, but I have the disks that came with it
and believe I should be able to get it working with
these disks.
Can someone tell me how can I get the software to
recognize the CD Writer or something else I may try?
