I think you should visit the Palace and Park complex called Tsaritsino which
consist couple of interesting objects as the never finished palace for
Catherine the Second, pavilions and bridges in the park. In 1984 I was the
member of the negotiating team from PKZ (The Ateliers for Conservation of
Cultural Property) Poland preparing the contract for restoration work.
Finally we closed the deal and in1985 my company started the work. The
interesting thing about the site is its neogothic like style which happened
over 100 years before it occurred and was classified in the rest of Europe.
Challenging part was structural reinforcement of the bridges and
conservation of the stone and brick badly damaged by the capillar water. I
have couple of pictures "before" and if I ever learn how to do it I will
post it on PHL (I understand that it is piggish to simply attach it to the
mail). The other object restored by PKZ lately was The Residence of Duchess
Z. Morozov (now Russian Foreign Ministry - probably off limits for
tourists) - the PKZ reconstructed the interiors after fire which left it
almost completely burnt. I can also dig out the contacts with conservators
from Moscow if you want to try.
