Actually, fresh grain 'right off the stalk' is rather tasty, as are raw
peas and beans, and raw sweet corn right off the stalk is incredible. I
have noshed on them for years [I grew up in a small community 30 miles
south of Rochester NY, and we had summer places in 2 other very rural
areas near farms and we frequently had gardens.]
Up until I went carnivore, I frequently would also 'snack' on dried
lentils and garbanzo beans by sucking on them until the skin softened
and slipped off, then crunch the insides. Lentils particularly taste
very like raw peas. I unfortunately have trouble on anything but a
decreased fat atkins and can't really snack on fruits, grains and
legumes - but since I love pretty much everything [well, ok except
zucchini, eggplant and okra] I have quite a wide variety of goodies to
eat both raw and cooked. My favorite is still a great salad of romaine,
radishes, sprouts and celery with a homemade olive oil and
balsamic/cider vinegar vinaigrette as a base for steak tartare. [what I
have sitting here waiting for me to eat lunch!]

The Quote Starts Here:
How
do you eat the grains raw? I have always found this to be more than I
could manage as grain is so darn hard to chew.
