I got a flakey computer in the other day. Freezes after being on a while.
After trouble shooting heat, bios, memory, I started looking at the
processor jumpers and the manual. The MB is a Soyo 6kb. On boot it reports
a Celeron 400. The manual and web site say that celeron is not supported,
and it gives jumper settings for PII 233-333 (slot 1). Now I wanna know
what the processor actually is. When I applied the heat sink compound I saw
no indication on the chip itself. Where do I go from here. Are there some
settings that may work? Or do I tell the guy he has to get a new processor.
I get the impression he doesn't want to take it back or deal with the
back-yard guy that built it for him
