Steve,

I went to see Alan today. He is doing well. The pain is still very much
present, but things are moving along nicely. A bit of fun -- when I got to
the hospital, I asked what room Alan was in. At the front desk, I was given
a room number on the 9th floor. After taking the elevator to the 9th floor,
I began looking for the room. When I finally got there -- no, wrong room.
I asked up there. I was told he is now on the 3rd floor in the rehab
section. So, I promptly went down to 3 and walked around again until I
found
the room.

Anyway, Alan was up and in a wheelchair eating his lunch. I went with him
as
the nurse wheeled him to rehab. The instructions for him this day were to
take his shoes and socks off, followed by putting them on again. I left
before he finished the task completely. Alan's spirits are up, he is on
Perkaset (sp?) for his pain. You are probably right that last week after
surgery he was on morphine, not motrin.

No other details to share at the moment. Hope things are well with you.
