Betty,
Your photos story reminded me of something that happened during my
Dad's viewing. There was a small Latino boy about eight years old who
idolized my Dad and was standing by the open casket and was fiddling with a
rubber band. The rubber band flew off his finger and landed, you guessed
it, in my Dad's casket.
The look of consternation of the little boy's face was something to behold.
He raised up on his tip toes contemplating whether he should go in and
retrieve it.
My niece and I were standing there and we got tickled. Then we assured the
little guy that Pop would want to take the rubber band with him. The
youngster was so relieved. It's funny how the more humorous and the most
horrific things happen at funerals.
