Mike,
ABSOLUTELY!!!! While I beleive that it helps to keep as much movement
going in my arms and legs as possible, I don't see why it should have
to be via walking. No one says anything if ab's drive everywhere in
a car even if they can walk to where-ever they are going. People ask
me how long I've been `confined' to my scooter (dontcha love that
one!), and I point out to them that without it I can't walk more than
a block - if that- without falling or getting exhausted, so I'm way
more `confined' when I'm not using it.
Although I do like to walk when I'm in libraries and bookshops though.
Wheels RULE!!! (punctures don't however!)

Hey there, I know this will add more controversy to this thread, but a little
thinking never hurt anyone. Have we bought into the notion that walking is the
only locomotion fit for humans, and that if we rely on otrher mobility tools, we
become subhuman? That's what it sounds like to me... So what if we become
dependent on powerchairs and/or scooters? The powerchair/scooter becomes our legs,
and if family or friends can't handle it, it is theiir problem, not ours.
