Just a couple thoughts...
It almost sounds like a virus - any error messages? If the mouse has a ball, the rollers may need cleaning - I
remove the ball and lightly scratch the junk from the rollers with my fingernail. Check the connection at the
port - it may just be loose. Try jiggling the cord lightly right at the mouse while you move it - did the
mouse get yanked recently? Mouse drivers may need updating? If nothing else, these suggestions may serve to at
least eliminate some possibilities. It may be you just need a new mouse if it's been around a while. hth
