Hal: My understanding is that it depends on the way you intend to use your
CD RW. If you want to use it  to back up data from the HD then they - the HD
and CDRW - should be on different channels. If you want to copy CDs then the
CDROM and CDRW should be on different channels.

However, I find the best results for burning CD whether audio or Data is
from the HD. It is slower and more CPU intensive, but it should give you
consistent results.

In addition, having either your CDROM or CDRW on the same channel as your HD
may slow the latter.
