In addition to what others have mentioned about getting drivers for the
video card, don't forget to install the correct "driver" for the monitor.
There are times when choices for video properties will be missing if the
proper driver for the monitor is not present. The video card needs to
"know" what the monitor is capable of before it can present the right choices.
