I have a friend who has a computer from Midwest Micro that he has had for a while now, and the other day he upgraded to Windows Me from Windows 98 first edition. Before he did the upgrade with the $49.96 promo version it would shut itself off when you chose shut down. Now when he chooses shut down it goes through it steps then goes to a black screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner of the screen. Then eventually you have to turn it off at the switch. When turn you turn the computer on later it will say it was improperly shut down and goes through scan disk. Are there some kinds of settings that need to be adjusted? Or is this something common that happens with upgrades? Any help with is appreciated. The system is a Celeron 300 Mhz with 64 MB of Ram, STB Velocity 128 video card, and a Sound Blaster PCI 64 sound card.
