Hello everyone!
I have been given an early Xmas pressie of a 7.5 Gig HHD.
When I had it put into my Pentium100, 32 meg RAM, I did not have the
install disk handy, so I thought I could install the sound drivers
myself (something I have done often on my other computers with DOS and
Win 3.11).
I have an Analogue Devices sound AD1812.
First, I went to Add New Hardware Wizard, click on the "Sound, Video
&Game controllers", installed the driver from the disk, and everything
seems ok. Win 95 tells me the card has been installed successfully.
I checked the System Properties Folder, and the AD1812 is there under
the right category (Sound, video etc), under the General window it says
the AD1812 is working properly, Under the Resources window, it has the
correct settings, but it shows a conflict with "AD1812" in the IRQ.
When I check to see what sounds I want for events in Sound Properties
folder, the button to test the sounds is shaded out. In the Multimedia
Properties, Audio window, it says I do NOT have an audio card/driver
installed.
I have no sound in Win95. However, I have slave HDD with DOS 6.22 and
Win3.11 (disabled during the install of Win95 to avoid conflicts) and
sound works beautifully. I don't think it is the card itself.
I searched the net for a new driver, and it was the same as I have. No
updates..
If anyone has any suggestions.. I would LOVE to hear.
Thank you
Anne Smith
