While there are wireless adapters and access points for short distances (usually
upto 300 feet,) there are also wireless bridges with antennas that will reach
500+ feet.  Take a look at Cisco's Aironet line.  They should have what you
need.  You may be able to find one from a cheaper company as well.

One staff member is in a building next door; running RJ45 cable is not a
cost-effective solution.
Is there an inexpensive wireless adapter that would connect to a network
hub and transmit shared files/printer data to a wireless PCI card that I
would install in the staff member's computer?
