Susan,
I have three LS-120 Super Drives on various machines. They are backward
compatible with 1.4MB 3 1/2" floppies (meaning they can read and write to
1.4MB floppies). Never had any trouble out of any of them and when you use
the SuperDisk it is much faster than a 1.4MB floppy. However, an old 3 1/2"
floppy drive cannot read or write to a Superdisk. The Superdisk drive
replaces the 3 1/2" floppy drive you may now have. It is an IDE device and
cannot be connected to your old Floppy drive connector, so be sure you have
an available IDE port on board or you will also have to purchase an
additional IDE controller. The drives cost about $75.00 and the disks from
$5-$10 each. I like mine real well.
