I have used dual 17s .... and am now using a 22 with a couple of 17s. You
will have significantly more desktop space with two 17s then you will with
a single 19.
However a single large monitor has big advantages for specific use...like
games...or documents. ..and on a 22 and maybe a 19 you can work with two
full open pages....or while transferring files using explorer...you can put
two Explorers side by side without scrolling on the same screen to copy files.
But with dual 17s you can have your email open full screen while you work
with your word processor at full screen on the other 17. Using dual
monitors is kind of like having virtual desktops only you can view two
desktops at a time and you can move your mouse naturally across them. Give
the free virtual desktop utility ZD Desk a try to get an idea of how big
dual monitors feel. http://www.freepctech.com/rode/003.shtml.
If you are wondering if you should get a 19 to work with your 17...or save
a few bucks and get another 17 ......then get the 19 and run 19 with a
17...at the low and middle end the price difference between 17 and 19 isn't
big enough to justify not getting the 19. And the first time you play a
game you will be glad you did !
