Concerning Dr. Scheibner's credentials, the referenced article
says:
Viera Scheibner, PhD, is a retired principal research
scientist with a doctorate in natural sciences. During
her distinguished career she published three books and
some 90 scientific papers in refereed scientific
journals.
Note the vagueness of the doctorate. I do not claim that
credentials are all-important, but I get suspicious when this
sort of vague description is given. Why don't they tell us what
her specific training is in? Nobody gets a degree in the
"natural sciences."
But see
http://fp1.cyberhighway.net/~lmorgan/fearmongers/viera_scheibner.htm
Dr. Scheibner has no training in health sciences and has not
published in health-related refereed journals. Just to be sure,
I checked Medline and First Search myself. Zero.
This doesn't mean that her theory about shaken baby syndrome is
wrong, but it does mean that she has no claim to considered an
expert in this area. Personally, I found the reasoning in her
article to be pretty loose, and I am no fan of vaccinations.
