I know a number of people who eat dairy and don't get sick. However, all of
them report that they stopped getting sick (as well as having far fewer
headaches and other pains) after they quit eating grains and legumes.
There is a lot of ranting (to use your term) on this list about dairy, but
personally I went six months without dairy and noticed no difference in my
health at all. I think that the one element of D'adamo's theory that is
probably correct is the part about healthy dairy consumption being dependent on
one's genetic ancestry. I also note that the milk of other animals is edible
raw by a naked person with a sharpened stick, no more or less so than the legs
of those animals.
PS You state: "And when we are at some kind of gathering where there is food,
and we have to say no, thanks to the junk..." I do have this sort of problem
with my kid. However, the source of the problem is the fact that there is a
multitude of conflicting health ideas out there. If I were a vegan, I would
have the same feeling about school teachers who take their classes to McDonalds
on the way back from field trips. Well meaning parents who replace the junk
food with high-carb granola, bagels and so on, are not really helping either,
but they have no real way of knowing the truth about these matters. The real
villains are the medical professionals who refuse to do the small amount of
"homework" that would demonstrate to them that "low-fat" is a blight on society.
