Whoops.......Corn, safflower, sunflower, cottonseed, soy and their oils are
all sources of the nasty omega 6, with little if any omega 3. most people
should avoid them like the plague. This is the new message of mainstream
nutrition and is completely supported by paleo scientists like Loren
Cordain. The best way to clear up the confusion is to read "The Omega Plan"
by Artemis Simopoulos and Jo Robinson- the most important book on mainstream
nutrition there is. It and Neanderthin rank as the 2 most influential books
I've read (Neanderthin isn't "mainstream" although I predict it will be in
another 10 years). Unfortunately most mainstream nutritionists aren't up to
speed on omega issues which is why you read so much nonsense on them.
IMHO the types of fat you eat is one of the cardinal points of the
paleolithic diet.
Even worse are processed foods which are full of these nasty omega 6 and
then many are hydrogenated with huge amounts of trans fatty acids- the
"frankenfats" that give potato crisps their crunch etc etc.
