I was in NH & CT at Christmastime. My NH-based brother told me that New
England in winter is drier than the Sahara. Much preferable to
perpetually-humid DC area. But I you still have freeze-thaw effects because
water gets in and freezes. The dry air is caused by all available water
freezing in winter.
