Pennsylvania is fortunate to have more than 250
classic operating diners in the keystone state.
Diner enthusiasts, cultural historians, roadside
archivists and preservationists will converge in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from June 22-24 to
celebrate the food, history and preservation of
area diners. The weekend event is being held at
the Senator John Heinz Pittsburgh Regional History
Center and Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania
for DINER RAMA 2001. The annual conference will
feature two half day diner bus tours, presentations/talks
on art and diners, the written word and diners as
well as exhibits of diner memorabilia. Feature
speakers for the weekend include Pat Fodero of the
former Fodero Dining Car Company, Newark, New
Jersey and co-authors Brian Butko and Kevin Patrick
of Diners of Pennsylvania. The Museum will present
its Annual Walter Scott award to a diner owner that
has exhibited commitment to the local community and
the diner industry.

The American Diner Museum is a 501(c)3 non profit
organization established to promote and preserve
diners and diner culture. The Museum is a
commemoration of Walter Scott who invented the
lunch wagon in Providence, Rhode Island in
1872. It is a tribute to the individuals who
built, operated and worked in diners and to those
who continue the tradition into the 21st century.
