If you read the online manual you will quickly see the Marine Corp advice on the
moving of a tank through interior non-load bearing partitions -- they make their
own field of fire as needed. As a large element of historic preservation has to
do with the perception of the occupants and users of the property I simply
thought it interesting to see what perceptions the military has of a building.
The diagrams they use show what some of us may consider historic structures...
and their main concern seems to be strong points (pilasters) and recognition of
load-bearing walls as opposed to non-load bearing walls. Their take on terra
cotta appears to be that it is a quickly disposable element.
