A memorial service for James Marston Fitch is being planned for Thursday,
May 4th at 5 PM in St. Paul's Chapel on Columbia's campus.

There will be a reception following, either indoors or out, weather
permitting. A number of alumni, and friends of Professor Fitch's are
beginning to plan the ceremony. Details will follow as they are available.

In lieu of flowers, alumni and friends may make a donation to a number of
funds in Jim's honor.

The HP Program has the "James Marston Fitch Fund at Columbia's Historic
Preservation Program" (donations should be specified for this fund to ensure
that the money goes directly to the Preseravtion program); in addition, PA
has the "Cleo and James Marston Fitch Prize", awarded annually for
outstanding work by a student in Columbia's Historic Preservation program.
These is also the Fitch Foundation, although I do not have any information
on contributing to this at this time. All of these are completely separate
entities, and alumni, and friends are encouraged to contribute as they see
fit.

------
The memorial service for Aldolf Placzek will be held this Monday, April 17th
at 5:00 PM in Avery Library.
