Hi everyone,
I just received the November issue of PREVENTION Magazine (Rodale
Press)and was very excited to see a four page article on Celiac Disease.
It is very informative and discusses the long road to diagnosis,
problems if undiagnosed, hidden food sources and tests for diagnosis! I
only have one criticism of the article - it refers to Celiac Disease as
a "Food Allergy". This seems to be a misnomer to me because a true
allergy, which can range from minor response to being life threatening,
elicits an IgE response and can be controlled by
antihistamines/epinepherine. Celiac Disease requires total elimination
of gluten - a point the article DOES do a good job of emphasizing.
Three Cheers to the authors for helping to spread public awareness!
