Hi everyone,
I'm going to be building 3 computers for the office. These computers will be
placed on a network with 11 others, and, since it was a kick and scratch
match to get a budget for these, I'm not going to be able to upgrade them for
a few years.
Now, I don't have enough knowledge about manufacturers of components so I'm
relying on what information I find on the internet and conversation with
other geeks like me. I need your advice and experience concerning component
choices. This is what I have so far...
Motherboard: Asus CUSL2-C for around $110 and shipping.
Case: Addtronics 3890A w/300W PSU
Processor: Pentium P!!! 1Ghz
Video Card: Matrox G450 with 32MB DDR RAM (Are 32MB necessary for business
apps or is this simply good for the gamers, and 16MB will suffice?)
Also, I want to get 256MB RAM going in these computers. Can someone suggest
a good brand name that offers good quality at a reasonable price. I was
looking for Crucial on Pricewatch but it didn't seem to be mentioned under
Memory.
I'm going to pilfer the monitors, keyboards, mice, network cards, floppy's
and CDROM's from the 3 computers these will be replacing. I don't need sound
cards right now and may not need them at all. I know they're cheap but my
budget has to stretch here.
So, can anyone see any issues here with compatibility or quality? I really
need your input.
Thanks all for any consideration here.
Regards,
Paul Roeth
