I am in the market for two cheap sound cards for an aging Pentium 100 and a
166. The P100 can take a PCI card, but the 166 can only take ISA. Right now
I have a cheap sound card in the 166 that emits popping sounds while playing
MP3s, but midi and wavs sound fine. Is this because the CPU is weak? What
kind of sound card, i.e. PCI, ISA, brand etc. would work better with these
two cpus? I will mainly be playing mp3s, wavs, midi, etc., and anything that
will be encountered on the internet. Thank you,
Chuck Hassenplug
