Interesting reading in Guns Germs and Steel (Jared Diamond, a great
book.
most of you would love it) about how when the Ice Age ended 12000
years ago,
the seas rose some 400 feet. I did read 600 feet elsewhere.
What are the implications?
1. If man preferred coastal regions a la homo aquaticus, the all the
archeological sites are totally inaccessible. Which would mean that
most
paleolithic archeological guesses would be out the window!!!!!!!!!
2. Noah was real! Well, at least it explains the legend of the flood
in the
oral history of the world which became the Old Testament, and The
Bhagvad
Ghita (however it's spelt) etc.
Has anyone found a map of the Ice age world that shows the low seas
and Ice
bridges? I was sent one but it's just the modern world with the Ice
Age
temperature chart- I'd rather see the low seas and ice painted in to
see how
it helped migration.(eg Indonesis was nearly confluent with south east
asia
and New Guinea.
